Norview NJROTC defeated Palm Bay MCJROTC 2313.4 to 2247.2 in the Sporter Championship Tournament and will advance to the semifinals. Norview NJROTC was led by Dy'Ann Jones who shot a 582.1. The remaining contributing members were Quamir Barham, Preston Everette, Andreyona Smith, and Joshua Buszek. The league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season, followed by the post-season going on now.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 20 shots in three different shooting positions, kneeling, prone, and standing. Scored in decimal, each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 60 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team of 5 athletes.
